Upcoming Classes
Join our Beginner Class at Material Things Quilt Shop, running for 4 days from April 6-9th, 2026, with each session lasting 2 hours. Please ensure you are registered and paid before the 1st day of the month to secure your spot. The cost is $85.00, and you will also need to purchase a kit for a Throw size quilt top, which includes a pattern and fabric. During the class, you will learn essential skills such as pattern reading, piecing, sewing 1/4" seams, cutting, and other valuable tips and tricks to create a beautiful quilt top. Please note that binding, batting, and backing are additional costs. Our class sizes are limited, so contact us via call, email, or text today to sign up, with payment due at the time of reservation. In addition, we offer other classes throughout the month that cover Sandwiching, Quilting, and Binding. If you're looking for a quick introduction to the quilting process, check out our mini block class that teaches piecing, quilting, sandwiching, and binding through creating a pot holder. Class offerings change each month, so be sure to pick up a calendar at the beginning of each month. ***Please note that there will be no classes during May or June due to the All Blue Ridge Shop Hop, so this is the last beginner class available until August. Monthly Pattern
Our charity for the Dialysis center is off and running, and we invite you to participate through our material things quilt shop. You can create your own quilt measuring 50" x 70" to donate, or simply make one of the 100 water wheel blocks, ensuring the white fabric remains in the same position. We have set up a group on our Facebook page to share these blocks. Once collected, we will assemble the blocks into quilts, each measuring 50" x 70", for the charity. Our quilt store in Richmond, VA has kits available for just $4.50, which includes the pattern and fabric for one block. Feel free to use your own fabric from your stash to create additional blocks, as long as the white fabric stays consistent. For guidance, there's also a YouTube video on how to stitch. The deadline for the 2026 blocks is 12-10-26. Our goal is to complete 12 quilts each month, totaling 100 quilts, which means we need 756 blocks each month.
